Foodspotting is an app and website that helps you find dishes, not just restaurants, anywhere you go in the world. It could be a zero star taco stand or a 5 star gourmet restaurant, the point is that all kinds of dishes can be beautiful, tasty and photogenic.

The purpose of the International award ONTHEMOVE Tenimenti d’Alessandro is to tell visually all the manifestations of joy and celebration of life. Participants are invited to submit works that develop in an original way the general theme of the competition.

Its interpretation is left free to the vision, creativity and sensitivity of the authors who are called to reflect on the theme, moving away from its purely literal meaning and to develop it in its various aspects.

Special attention is given to the theme of movement as a real or figurative journey and to the happiness that follows.

´In celebration of our 35th anniversary, Outside magazine is seeking proposals for its first annual Adventure Grant, a $10,000 endowment to help fund a smart, creative, and (perhaps) slightly foolhardy project that we’ll feature in an upcoming issue.

Essays should be factually accurate and no longer than 500 words. Photos should be uploaded as jpegs no larger than 100K. Videos should be links to videos posted on YouTube or Vimeo, and a maximum length of two minutes. All materials are required and should be submitted at the same time.´

JOURNALIST REQUIREMENTS: Writers with an assignment for an article related to wine and cuisine, senior travel, multi-generational travel, adventure travel, family travel, or outdoors will be given priority. If you write for a major publication (100,000 circulation or more) or are on assignment as a freelancer, you may be eligible for this trip. Writers with assignments will be given priority. Please provide clips or links to current articles / publications. Journalists will be considered based on the criteria of national exposure, circulation of publication, and Letter of Assignment.

This trip, which recently appeared in the New York Times, offers a totally unique adventure where guests spend their days enjoying the scenery, wildlife, and history with hikes along the historic Rogue River Trail, a trail that was originally built by miners in the 1900s. Evenings are spent at historic lodges that are located along the Rogue River Trail. Each evening at the lodges, guests are treated to wine tastings, led by a guest wine sommelier.

Creative Nonfiction seeks essays that capture the South in all its steamy sinfulness—whether deadly or just something to make your mama blush. Essays can be serious, humorous, or somewhere in between, but all essays must tell true stories, and must incorporate both sin and the South in some way.

The selected essays will be published in Creative Nonfiction #47, and CNF and Oxford will be awarding $5000 for Best Essay.

*While the video and the site suggest that Intrepid wants all manner of entries when you come to the submissions page you encounter a video upload field and a tiny box allotted for a scant 25 words on why you are intrepid. So just realize that although say that want songs and paintings, what they really want is video of you singing and painting, which is not made clear anywhere.

From Bradt Guides contest page
The main prize, donated by Railbookers, is a holiday for two to Abruzzo, Italy, and publication of the winning entry in the travel section of The Independent on Sunday. In addition, the winner will earn a commission from the newspaper to write a piece about their prize visit to Abruzzo. This prize can be won by either a previously published or unpublished writer.

A special prize will also be awarded to an unpublished writer. This is a place on a travel-writing weekend run by Travellers’ Tales, the UK’s leading training agency for travel writing. Every entry to the competition will be entered for the first prize; only unpublished writers will be eligible for the special prize.

Vishnu Temple Press, in collaboration with editor Rick Kempa, is seeking well-crafted essays for an anthology that captures the experience of hiking in the Grand Canyon. Vishnu Temple Press is interested in writing that conveys the sights and sounds, the texture and spirit of that place, and the richness of your immersion.
