FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA, United States
Workshop: Writing in the Shadow of the Sacred
Overview: This six hour workshop will take place in a meadow at the base of the San Francisco Peaks a few miles from Flagstaff, Arizona. We will walk out from our circle into wild grasses and flowers, toward basalt outcroppings, down into a gambel oak grove, all in the immediate presence of the San Francisco Peaks, mountains sacred to 13 tribes. We will carry with us strategies for deep observation at all sensory levels. We’ll come back and write – “What formula do you use to teach writing, Mary Sojourner?” “No formula. That way, there is room for magic to enter and emerge.” Then, we will walk and write again. Students will take from the workshop more than skills.
Course size: This course is limited to 6 participants.
Prerequisites: None
Facilitators: Mary Sojourner
Upcoming dates: Please email Mary at shebetsherlife@gmail.com for upcoming dates.
